FAQsWhat is the difference between Polyethylene and Polypropylene?
- Polyethylene and Polypropylene are very similar as far as physical properties.
- However, Polypropylene can be produced optically clear where polyethylene can only be made translucent like a milk jug.
- Polyethylene does have physical properties that allow it to stand up better in cold temperatures, particularly when using it as signs.
Is Polyethylene and Polypropylene recyclable?
- Both polyethylene and polypropylene are recyclable materials. Most municipalities take polyethylene, which is the same material as milk jugs. There are many recycling centers that are starting to take polypropylene for curb side pickup.

- Crawford Industries is currently buying reclaimed milk jugs and extruding it for numerous products. It is our 2nd Genesis™ line of material.

- Crawford offers the widest range of material thicknesses in our market place. This allows us to provide flexibility to our customers for their custom products.
- Polyethylene gauge range: 0.010 to 0.125
- Polypropylene gauge range: 0.012 to 0.125
- Before you consider a material thickness - please consult a representative to ensure that the material thickness is the right application for your project.
What methods do you have for putting a product together?
- Crawford has a variety of methods for affixing or putting a product together which gives you numerous choices in how the product looks and price point.
- Sonic welding - this is using RF (radio frequency) to seal the two parts together. This method involves tooling which creates small divots along a side of a product along with a minimal dwell time with the RF. This creates a strong bond which will not come apart.
- Gluing - this is a proprietary two part cold glue system which allows us to dispense a single clear line of adhesive which bonds the two parts together. This creates a strong bond which will not come apart and can be done much quicker than sonic welding.
- Tuck Tabs - this method creates tabs which are then manually inserted into a corresponding slit in the product. The tuck tabs are designed for quick manual assembly and stay securely fastened, but could be disassembled if necessary.
- Your Crawford representative can assist you with the correct option for your particular product.
